Day Wave is releasing his first full-length album next week on May 5, and he’s just released the video for his new single “Promises.” It’s the exact kind of dreamy pop we need right now, and it just means we’re that much more excited for his debut LP next week.
Driven largely by sunny melody and steady drum beat, “Promises” is meant for sunny days and summer mixtapes. Pure pop is dripping off of every note, and the music video is comprised of what looks like old home video on 16mm film, which is it’s own kind of fun, featuring footage of the girl that Jackson Phillips is likely singing about: “Promise me you won’t run away with my heart, promise you I’m not leaving you in the dark.”
