Watch Dirty Projectors, Anna & Elizabeth Perform on Chris Thile’s Live From Here

Dirty Projectors appeared on folk-musician-extraordinaire Chris Thile’s radio special Live From Here over the weekend to give a live performance of “That’s a Lifestyle” off their latest album Lamp Lit Prose, out now through Domino Records.

The performance took place at the Palace Theatre in St. Paul, Minn., and found singer Dave Longstreth back in peak form, with yelping harmonizations and stuttering stop-start melodies. Longstreth did not tour behind his previous album, 2017’s Dirty Projectors, an almost entirely solo affair that detailed his split with Amber Coffman, his longtime partner and collaborator, whose distinctive vocals were a signature part of the band’s sound. Lamp Lit Prose was a return to form of sorts for Longstreth, and this rendition of “That’s a Lifestyle” is a celebration of the marvel that is a full-fledged Dirty Projectors performance.

The acoustic-folk duo Anna & Elizabeth also appeared on the show, delivering a solemn rendition of their track “Mother in the Graveyard.” Their performance captured a different kind of harmonizing, sparse and haunting compared to Dirty Projectors’ siren-like three-parters.
