Disq Share New Single “Loneliness” from Forthcoming Debut Album Collector

Madison band Disq have shared the latest single from their debut album Collector, out on March 6 via Saddle Creek. Their brand new track “Loneliness,” which comes with a music video, follows their lead single “Daily Routine.” Last year, Paste named Disq one of the 20 best new artists of 2019, and we also had a chat with them for an introductory interview.

Sometimes roasting yourself is the only way to feel better, and “Loneliness” attempts just that. Lead singer Isaac deBroux-Slone pines for his significant other and leans into his misery rather than drowning in it: “All I wanted was some loneliness / Used to think I don’t have time for this / but now it’s all I wanna do.” Disq have proven to be shrewd guitar-wielders, and this chiming riff will climb into your brain and set up shop. As for the video, file this under angsty ski lodge-core. The coool-directed clip sees the band snowmobile to a Boomer-filled, taxidermy-covered bar, and as they tear into the song, the power gets cut.

“‘Loneliness’ is about the feeling of helplessness you get after someone you love has moved far away,” deBroux-Slone says. “At the time, my high-school girlfriend of a few years was moving from Madison to Los Angeles for college. We’d decided to stay together, but with the distance I began to feel a kind of loneliness that I hadn’t known before. The lyrics were written over several sad days sitting in my room, and combined with a guitar riff Raina came up with.”
