Elton John Will Not Be Performing at Trump’s Inauguration, Despite Claims of Trump’s Spokesperson
Photos by Theo Wargo/Getty, Mike Coppola/GettyWhen Anthony Scaramucci, a member of president-elect Donald Trump’s transition team, claimed that Elton John would be performing at Trump’s inauguration, that was apparently news to the singer himself. A spokeswoman for John denied the claim that he would perform at Trump’s inauguration.
Scaramucci, a vice-chair of Trump’s transition team, told the BBC on Tuesday that John would be performing on the National Mall as an indication of Trump’s “commitment to gay rights.”

“This will be the first American president in U.S. history that enters the White House with a pro-gay rights stance,” Scaramucci said. “Elton John is going to be doing our concert on the mall on inauguration.”
In response, Fran Curtis, a spokeswoman for John, told CNN, “He will NOT be performing at Trump’s Inauguration!” John headlined a fundraiser for Hillary Clinton in March, and has been critical of Trump throughout 2016.
