Empress Of Announces Third Album, Shares “Give Me Another Chance”

Lorely Rodriguez, better known as Empress Of, shared news of her third album I’m Your Empress Of Tuesday. The follow-up to 2018’s Us, one of our favorite pop albums of 2018, Rodriguez will be releasing the album on April 3 via Terrible Records. Rodriguez wrote and produced the entire album with guest help from Jim E-Stack, Mikey Freedom Heart and BJ Burton. Of the process, Rodriguez says:

After writing three albums, no process has been the same. This record wasn’t written in a remote location. It wasn’t written in a collaborative effort. It was written in my small studio in Highland Park, Los Angeles over two months in between touring the world. Music is magic. Something that possesses me, shows me things about myself that aren’t easy to see. It’s called I’m Your Empress Of because I’ve always felt that once a song is done, and the emotion is there and it’s not inside me anymore, it belongs to the world.

She also shared a video for the album’s first single “Give Me Another Chance.” A sweaty electronic track that takes influences from dancehall and house, the song’s video provides stunning visuals of a smoky club. It’s a departure from the ‘80s-inspired, emotionally honest R&B sounds of Us, a welcome dive into propulsive party territory. It feels like her “Work” moment à la Rihanna, with the same devil-may-care freedom and effortless attitude.
