Father John Misty Calls New LCD Soundsystem Tunes “Miraculous” in Open Letter to James Murphy

If you’ve been loving the advance tracks from LCD Soundsystem’s forthcoming American Dream, you’re in good company. None other than Father John Misty took to Facebook last night to shower praise on James Murphy and company’s new material, calling recently released singles “tonite” and “Call The Police” “miraculous” in a brief open letter to the LCD frontman.

It’s always nice to see one mega-talented musician voicing respect and admiration for another. Though Father John Misty’s deep, piano-driven downer opus Pure Comedy is stylistic lightyears away from LCD Soundsystem’s latest, the hip yet heartfelt This Is Happening, true artistry knows no genre. Now, we wait and hope for a collaboration. Father John Murphy, anyone? FJM Soundsystem? Whatever they want to call it, we’re onboard.

LCD’s American Dream is due out on Sept. 1, and if it’s going to top Paste’s ranking of 2017’s best albums, it’ll have to go through Pure Comedy first. Either way, we all win.

Read Misty’s open letter and listen to Paste Cloud audio from both artists below.

An Open Letter To James Murphy,
tonite and call the cops are just wow wow wow holy hell this shit is miraculous
