Search for Frightened Rabbit’s Scott Hutchison Continues

Frightened Rabbit singer Scott Hutchison remains missing amid concerts for his wellbeing and continued efforts by police to locate him. Hutchison was last seen leaving South Queensferry, Scotland’s Dakota Hotel on foot at 1 a.m. U.K. time on Wednesday morning. Local police have carefully scrutinized CCTV footage, identifying and seeking information from two individuals who were seen in the area and may have knowledge of Hutchison’s whereabouts.

This update on authorities’ search efforts came in the form of a tweet from journalist James Matthews, who shared a statement he obtained from investigators. The statement urges anyone who can help with the search to come forward, noting that “officers are keeping an open mind as to Scott’s direction of travel.” Chief Inspector Alan Carson adds, “It is important to stress that at this time we do not know definitively where Scott has headed after leaving the Dakota Hotel and the assistance of the public is therefore vital to help us with this investigatio [sic].”

Frightened Rabbit shared Matthews’ update, as well as one of their own, in which they thanked supporters for their “kindness and positivity,” and encouraged them to “keep [Scott] in your thoughts, keep an eye out and keep sharing his picture online.” The tweet is signed “G,” indicating that it was posted by Scott’s brother and bandmate, Grant Hutchison.

Grant Hutchison spoke to Radio X about the search for Scott in an interview published Thursday. Asked what he would say to his brother if he could, Grant said:

Just to come back. There’s nothing that is so insurmountable that we can’t figure it out together and help you to get better and we’re all here for you and we all love you very much. If you can see the support online as well, then just know that everyone loves you very much and we just want you to come back and be safe.

Concern for Scott’s wellbeing stems in large part from two deeply troubling tweets the musician posted on Tuesday night: In the first, he wrote, “Be so good to everyone you love. It’s not a given. I’m so annoyed that it’s not. I didn’t live by that standard and it kills me. Please, hug your loved ones”; in the second, only, “I’m away now. Thanks.” The band revealed that Scott had been reported missing the following morning, expressing concern that he “may be in a fragile state and may not be making the best decisions for himself right now.”

As Frightened Rabbit also noted on Wednesday morning, “Please could Scott or anyone with any information on his whereabouts please contact Police Scotland (101).”
