Glass Animals Announce Second Album, How To Be A Human Being

Music News Glass Animals

Glass Animals announced that their sophomore album, How To Be A Human Being, will be released Aug. 26.

But that’s not all. The English indie-rock outfit also premiered a new video, “Life Itself,” which is the first single taken from the album.

And, I’m still not done. Glass Animals is also embarking on a North American headlining tour this fall.

Lead singer Dave Bayley makes a conscious effort of looking inward “to the world Glass Animals have built,” instead of listening to the band’s contemporaries when making music, according to a press release. Bayley also considered an aspect that wasn’t in play when his band was creating its debut album Zaba in 2014: live audiences. “You sense what the crowds react to: big drums, bass, high tempo,” Bayley said.

How To Be A Human Being is stitched together from the experiences the band has gathered from traveling around the world. Bayley would often covertly record rants and conversations during cab rides and parties on his phone, which served as lyrical inspiration as he created characters for these people.

The “Life Itself” video is set in an old-school motel and diner—think classic family road trip across the West, but mix in a potential child-kidnapping scheme. The retro vibe from the video offsets the exotic and eclectic sound of the danceable tune.

Watch the video below and beneath it, see if the band is coming to a city near you.
