HUNNY Take on a Teen Movie Dream in New Single

Ugh—it’s like, whatever.

Pouty ‘90s pop-inspired outfit HUNNY have shared their latest single, a moody, lovesick track titled “Saturday Night.”

Taken from their forthcoming debut album Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes., “Saturday Night” finds vocalist Jason Yarger gushing about being in love and dreaming of staying in with his dream girl to watch reruns of My So-Called Life over clean, blinking synths and splashes of hurried guitars.

But then, oh God—Jennifer Clavin from Bleached picks up the phone and doesn’t seem to reciprocate those feelings:

“You never called back!”
“I don’t remember that!”
“I cried, I cried, I cried.”

A halfway point between new-wave and post-hardcore, the song is trapped inside of a teenage bedroom from 1997, bouncing off walls plastered with posters of Freddie Prinze Jr. and Nick Lachey, and floors covered in that ugly ass ‘90s green carpeting.

Says bassist/keyboardist Kevin Grimmett of the song’s meaning, “It’s mostly about being emo in your bedroom on a weekend night, but being able to share that with somebody else.”

Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. is out July 19 via Epitaph Records. HUNNY are currently on tour with Knuckle Puck and Citizen through June 15.
