In honor of the animal companions caught between incompatible humans, the tender-hearted garage rockers of Illuminati Hotties have released a standalone new track titled “I Wanna Keep Yr Dog.”

The earnest new track is the first follow-up to their debut album Kiss Yr Frenemies, which came out last year through Tiny Engines.

Sarah Tudzin told Billboard about the four-legged inspiration behind the new tune:

One time I went on a date with someone I met through a dating app. Their dog was much cuter than they were … if you’re out there reading this, I’m sorry it didn’t work out. I still don’t have a dog but at least I ended up with a song.
