Kristin Kontrol Releases Dark, Seductive New Song, “Baby Are You In?”

Kristin Welchez’s new moniker Kristin Kontrol gives her the opportunity to explore an electronic sound, which she has said “felt off-limits” with her rock band Dum Dum Girls. Her new synthpop song “Baby Are You In?” once again proves that this new hat fits her well.

It’s a dark, seductive track that asks, “Baby, are you in?” but never seems to be unsure of the answer. “Do you think about me when the sun has set?” Welchez croons, and “When you fight yourself, how strong is your will,” daring her target to abandon the fight.

Welchez recorded the track during the sessions for her album X-Communicate, which was released in May. “I really regret not including it on the album,” she said in a statement, going on to note that it’s her favorite to perform live.
