Kurt Vile has shared his seventh solo album, Bottle It In, the Philly rocker’s first LP since 2015’s b’lieve i’m goin down…. Vile called his new release—one of Paste’s most-anticipated of the month—his “bestest, most deepest (and possibly weirdest) record yet” in a tweet on Friday.

Bottle It In comprises advance tracks “Loading Zones,” “Bassackwards” and “One Trick Ponies,” the first of which was his first new solo track in three years. Vile is touring the world in support of his new album through April 2019, sharing stages with Meg Baird, Mary Lattimore, Jessica Pratt, The Feelies, Snail Mail, The Sadies and RVG along the way. He’s also fresh off an appearance on Marc Maron’s popular podcast WTF.

Vile characterized Bottle It In as a return to his roots in a recent chat with Paste’s own Lizzie Manno. “I think I’d be really into this record as a teenager because I’m just trying to sound like what I was into in my teens,” he said. “Ideally, I think I’m always gonna evolve and fine-tune my craft, but it’s always going to sound like me.”

Listen to Bottle It In wherever you stream music here or via Vile’s tweet below, and don’t miss his SiriusXMU session, in which he performed “Bassackwards” and a cover of Tom Petty’s “Learning to Fly.” You’ll find Vile’s world tour slate, to which he’s just added a second November Brooklyn Steel show, further down.
