Lana Del Rey Completes Album, New Single Due Next Week

Lana Del Rey has new music on the horizon. As announced in a Dec. 30 Instagram Live broadcast and a Tuesday Instagram post, respectively, the witchy songstress has completed her forthcoming album, Norman Fucking Rockwell, and is scheduled to release a new song on Jan. 9.

Prior to these announcements, Del Rey released the first two singles from the album—”Venice Bitch” and “Mariners Apartment Complex.” In her latest Instagram clip, she previewed next week’s single, titled “hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like me to have—but I have it.” Check it out below.

Del Rey also mentioned a “short book of poetry” that she recently completed to be released in the near future, and apologized for the upcoming cancellation of shows, the dates of which will likely be released soon—”I wish I could fulfill those obligations but I won’t be able to,” Del Rey writes.

The singer-songwriter faced backlash earlier this year for scheduling a performance at a festival in Israel, which she later canceled. From casting spells against the president to being sued by Radiohead, Del Rey is no stranger to controversy. Paste recently examined her ability to use scandal to become “pop’s most enigmatic multi-platinum star”—you can read that feature here.
