Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” Rules Billboard Hot 100 Chart for Record-Tying 16th Week

Lil Nas X has the horses in the back, and, shortly, it seems he’ll have a Billboard chart record on his hands.

Tied at 16 straight weeks with Luis Fonsi’s “Despacito” featuring Justin Bieber and Mariah Carey’s ’90s hit “One Sweet Day” with Boyz II Men, “Old Town Road” needs just one more week on top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart to break the record.

“Old Town Road” has been at the top of the chart since April 13 and it doesn’t seem to be giving away that spot any time soon. Lil Nas X recently released a remix of “Old Town Road” with rapper Young Thug and the Wal-Mart yodeling kid, Mason Ramsey. In the 10 days since its release, the remix has garnered almost 12 million Spotify streams. The remix not only rejuvenated the love for “Old Town Road” but also gave audiences this incredible line from Ramsey: “If you don’t got no giddy up, then giddy out my way.”

Alongside the Hot 100 chart, “Old Town Road” is currently leading the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and Hot Rap Songs chart for its 16th week in a row, as well. And it’s been the longest-running hip-hop chart-topper for weeks now after hitting a genre-best 13 weeks in early July.

Go ahead and revisit the “Old Town Road” remix with Billy Ray Cyrus, Young Thug and Mason Ramsey below. You can also watch the cinematic music video for “Old Town Road” further down.
