Liz Phair Announces Fall North American Tour

25 years after the release of her seminal feminist rock album Exile in Guyville, Liz Phair has announced a 24-stop, full-band North American tour for this fall.

Phair launched herself into stardom with Exile in Guyville back in 1993. The double album, which she wrote at 25 while unemployed and living in Wicker Park in Chicago, was Phair’s song-by-song response to The Rolling Stones’Exile on Main St.. Phair considered the Rolling Stones to be the quintessential male rock band, and as she worked to break into the indie-rock scene of the early ‘90s, she used Exile in Guyville to sing unabashedly about sex, power and desire—all while looking like the picture-perfect definition of Midwest nice.

Since then, Phair has released five more studio albums, and she recently put out a 25th anniversary boxset, Girly-Sound to Guyville, which included a reissue of Exile in Guyville itself.

Phair is currently working on new music, as well as her first book, titled Horror Stories, which will examine “heartbreak and motherhood,” per a press release.

Phair is currently wrapping up her Girly-Sound to Guyville tour. Pre-sale tickets for her fall Amps on the Lawn tour, which kicks off in September, go on sale May 16, while tickets for the public will be available on May 18.
