Lorde Releases “Sober,” Her Fourth Single From Melodrama

Lorde has released the fourth single from her forthcoming album Melodrama, titled “Sober.”

The song is as introspective her prior three singles, “Green Light,” “Liability” and “Perfect Places,” and shows the New Zealand-born singer contemplating the effects of nightlife angst on a budding romance. “These are the games of the weekend,” she sings. “We pretend that we just don’t care / But we care / But what will we do when we’re sober?”

Singles from the album have been rolling out more frequently as Lorde builds up to the release of Melodrama on June 16, a follow-up to her 2013 breakout album, Pure Heroin.

Lorde previously preformed “Sober,” along with other released and unreleased singles from Melodrama, at festivals including Coachella, Jazz Fest and Governor’s Ball. She’ll also appear at Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza and Outside Lands before taking off on her world tour in September in support of Melodrama.
