Lucy Dacus released her debut album, No Burden, this past spring, generating enough buzz to be signed to Matador Records and reissue her album—so much buzz, that would-be VP Tim Kane noted Dacus as a favorite artist of his in a New York Times opinion column.
Dacus filmed a session for La Blogothèque’s Take Away Show series last month, while on the road opening for fellow Matador wunderkinds Car Seat Headrest. The Virginia singer-songwriter brought “Direct Address,” “I Don’t Wanna Be Funny Anymore” and “Historians” to the streets and subways of New York—watch her performance above. No Burden is out now on Matador.
