Mac Miller’s Spotify Singles have been released posthumously today (Nov. 28), almost three months after his death in September at the age of 26.
Miller performed “Dunno,” a track from his August release Swimming, and a cover of Billy Preston’s 1974 track “Nothing From Nothing.” Both tracks were accompanied by piano, showing a more softhearted side to the Pittsburgh rapper/producer. The version of “Dunno,” already one of Miller’s more scaled-back tracks, more seriously emphasizes the almost heartbreaking vulnerability found in the original, while the upbeat Preston track gets a jazzy makeover, still following the original feel of the track but better fitting Miller’s rasp.
