Mount Eerie’s Phil Elverum Quietly Marries Actress Michelle Williams

Mount Eerie’s Phil Elverum has married actress Michelle Williams, Vanity Fair reports.

The indie musician and Oscar-nominated actress married in a private, Adirondacks-set ceremony in upstate New York earlier this month. Among the attendees were a few friends and each spouse’s respective daughter, according to Vanity Fair. We at Paste are sending hearty congratulations their way.

Elverum lost his first wife, fellow artist Geneviève Castrée, to pancreatic cancer in 2016. Then the following year, he released A Crow Looked At Me, a devastating collection of ruminations on life and death Elverum wrote in the wake of the tragedy. Williams, too, lost her previous partner: the late actor Heath Ledger, with whom she has one daughter, Matilda. Elverum is father to one daughter from his previous marriage as well.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Williams said, “Ultimately the way he loves me is the way I want to live my life on the whole. I work to be free inside of the moment. I parent to let Matilda feel free to be herself, and I am finally loved by someone who makes me feel free.” Here’s to a shared life of love and happiness, you two.
