Listen to Paul McCartney’s New, Heavily Autotuned Track, “Get Enough”Photo by MJ Kim Music News Paul McCartney
Just months ago Paul McCartney released his first Billboard Top 200-topping album since 1982, Egypt Station. In the months since, he’s released a handful of music videos (including “Come On To Me” and “Who Cares”) and reissued Wings-era albums (and individual tracks), and now, he’s back with more new music.
Released today, Jan. 2, rather quietly, is Macca’s latest track, “Get Enough.” A collaboration with Zach Skelton and Ryan Tedder (One Republic), it sounds nothing like the music of Egypt Station and is another beast entirely. Out with Schoolboy-at-76 McCartney, in with Robot McCartney.
The heavily—seriously—autotuned track is a far cry from anything heard from the Brit rocker before, opening with reverberating, clean (in comparison to the rest of the track) vocals before he goes full electronica for the duration. Tedder’s influence is heard about two minutes into the track, when a new section begins, bringing with it a hugely sweeping melody and the young frontman’s high-flying vocals before finally returning to McCartney for a rather abrupt ending.
