Peaer Share New Single Featuring Shamir, the Contemplative “In My Belly”

Brooklyn trio Peaer are getting ready to release their forthcoming album A Healthy Earth next month. We’ve already heard the great “Don’t,” and on Thursday the band shared another preview of the record.

“In My Belly” is a sleepier affair, beginning with whispers and some lonesome guitar plucking from frontman Peter Katz, pondering whether you choose love or love chooses you. Turning up the volume as he sings, Katz reflects on the overwhelming nature of falling in love: “Will it make me feel dizzy? / Will I know that it won’t hurt me?”

From there, additional layers are folded into the mix, including agile drums from Jeremy Kinney and a twirling bass riff from Thom Lombardi. Shamir hops on some vocal harmonies, and “In My Belly” soars before returning to the same uncertain place it began. To paraphrase some lyrics in the song, you should really just shut up and listen.

A Healthy Earth is due out on Aug. 16 via Tiny Engines. You can preorder it here. In the meanwhile, revisit “Don’t” here, where you’ll also find all the new album’s details. Keep scrolling down to find Peaer’s stop at the Paste Studio back in 2018.
