Riot Fest to Feature Historic Misfits Reunion

Music News

After 30 years, one of punk music’s greatest outfits will reunite for two shows during Riot Fest’s Denver and Chicago stops.

The headlining performances will see original members Glenn Danzig, Jerry Only, and Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein back on stage together for the first time since 1983. This iteration of the New Jersey band performed together from 1980 to 1983, and along with drummer Arthur Googy, recorded the music group’s first two albums, 1982’s Walk Among Us and 1983’s Earth A.D./Wolfs Blood.

In 1983, Danzig left the Misfits to form the rock band Samhain and eventually his own self-titled group. Meanwhile, Only and Frankenstein went on to perform in different iterations of the famous horror punk group with various other musicians.

The full Riot Fest line-up hasn’t been announced, but the Denver leg will run Sept. 2-4 while the Chicago installment is scheduled for Sept. 16-18.
