Rival Consoles Premieres Video For “Hidden”

In just a matter of days, Rival Consoles, the electronic music project of U.K. producer Ryan Lee West, will start a North American tour in Montreal (see dates below). And to prime us for what should be a dazzling experience of abstract and beautiful synthesized sounds and body thrumming beats, he has released a video for “Hidden,” a track found on his recently released LP Persona (read our review here). It perfectly captures the swarming energy of Rival Consoles’ music but joined with some fragmented imagery that can put you in a small state of unease.

Here’s what the video’s director Dan Medhurst has to say about the clip:

This film was quite a journey to creation. After shooting a live performance of Ryan, we fed those shots through a series of old BBC editing monitors and projectors. We filmed more layers and introduced textures and distortion with some fresnel lenses. This gave us a different dynamic and really added some warmth to the film. Through this process of sending the video from digital to analog signal and then back again we created a rich blend of abstract visuals that changed and morphed into something entirely new by the end
