Rostam released his debut solo record, the glistening Half-Light earlier this year, stepping into fairly unfamiliar territory since his departure from producing Vampire Weekend’s indie-pop anthems. He’s gracefully emerged into his role as a solo musician, and now he’s taking his collection of baroque-pop melodies on the road in North America.
His tour kicks off next year, starting in the Southeast at the end of January, with dates in Atlanta and Nashville. He welcomes February with a show in his his hometown Washington, D.C. and makes his way through the U.S. and Canada until he ends his run in Los Angeles on the 24th.
“If you’ve never seen me perform, it’s always with strings—usually a string quartet —, live percussion, and video projections,” Rostam says. “I’m so psyched to see you out there on the road in January, February, and throughout 2018.”
Rostam’s appearance on KEXP might give you a little peek of what to expect when he makes his way to a city near you. Check out the video of his full session, including performances of “Wood,” “Don’t Let It Get To You,” “Half-Light” and “Gwan,” below, along with his tour dates, and read our review of Half-Light here. Tickets go on sale Oct. 20, but those who follow him on Spotify will receive special pre-sale offers two days in advance.
