Run the Jewels’ Killer Mike to Open Barbershop in Atlanta’s Philips Arena

Killer Mike, one-half of rap duo Run the Jewels, and the Atlanta Hawks have announced a new location for Killer Mike’s barbershop, SWAG Shop. The S(have) W(ash) A(nd) G(room) Shop will now have its new location in the Hawks’ Philips Arena. This marks the first such shop of its kind in a large-scale arena.

Killer Mike (aka Michael Render) and Shana Render, his wife and business partner, opened the first SWAG Shop near the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, which is close to his old neighborhood.

Atlanta Hawks CEO Steve Koonin describes Killer Mike as a “true Atlanta legend.” He believes that the SWAG Shops are beneficial to the Atlanta community and wanted that representation inside of the reimagined arena.

“We believe in providing a diverse and inclusive entertainment experience and we are thankful that Killer Mike and his SWAG Shop will be authentic as we do so,” Koonin said.

Killer Mike is excited about the new location as well, saying that it’s “a dream coming true because now kids are going to be coming down early just to hang out in [his] shop, buy a t-shirt, get a haircut and watch the game.”
