Sun Kil Moon, the moniker of singer-songwriter Mark Kozelek, has released This Is My Dinner through Caldo Verde Records. The album is his second of the year, following a self-titled solo album in May.
This Is My Dinner’s 10 songs clock in at just around an hour and a half in length, continuing Kozelek’s penchant for the rambling, densely narrated songs that have become signatures of his more recent work. One of the two singles he shared from the album, “Linda Blair,” hovers in a blipping haze for around 12 minutes. “Candles,” the longest song on the album, is similarly boundless, with Kozelek waxing, waning and everything in between for just under 14 minutes. There are also covers of the Partridge Family’s “Come On Get Happy” and AC/DC’s “Rock n’ Roll Singer,” as well as a song named for David Cassidy, who portrayed Keith Partridge.
