The concert film, originally shot by director Jonathan Demme over three shows at Pantages Theatre in L.A., celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. The restored 4K print screened around the world last fall thanks to A24, which acquired worldwide rights. It was a commercial success, setting a new IMAX record for highest-grossing live event. Publicity for the event also managed to bring together the four core members of Talking Heads for the first time since 2002, with David Byrne, Tina Weymouth, Chris Frantz and Jerry Harrison all participating in a series of on-stage conversations reminiscing on the film and album.
In the rendition of “Burning Down the House” below, Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams falls effortlessly into the joyous groove captured so iconically in Stop Making Sense, her vibrato helping to capture the intensity of the live film version.
