Teal Moss Releases Galactic Animated Music Video for “Day One”

Texas-based guitar-pop artist Teal Moss has released a striking animated video for “Day One,” a sludgy, sedated gem from the musician’s recently released debut Dewy.

“Day One” features the funky, frenetic work of NYC-based visual artist Megan Armstrong, and follows an exhausted man in a spaceship throttling through the cosmos and lamenting the time he spent on earth as a farmer. Several wonky and ugly-cute space-borne creatures also make an appearance, shown floating in the atmosphere and captured in jars on the man’s ship.

The lonely universe captured by the animation matches the song’s own forlorn and galactic atmosphere, a feeling that runs throughout the rest of Dewy.

“The song has this overwhelming feeling of isolation and grief but in a productive way, so an old man journeying solo through space felt very fitting,” Steven Fischer of Teal Moss tells Paste. “I knew I wouldn’t have to do or say much and Megan would just get it. I reached out to her and she totally expanded on the idea and exceeded any expectations entirely.”
