The Growlers Announce Their Beach Goth Fall Tour

Tickets for The Growlers’ festival Beach Goth went on sale last week ahead of the Aug. 5 event, and the band has now announced a full list of tour dates for this fall, starting on Sept. 6 in Portland. Under the name “Beach Goth Tour 2018,” the group is taking its dark surf sound across North America and abroad—you can read a Paste piece about the dichotomy of the beachy and gothic in The Growlers’ music here (and about the band’s near-“anti-Beach Boys”-ness here).

The Growlers’ last record City Club was released in 2016, but the band has released other music more recently, including the previously unreleased “California.” Still, the tour video The Growlers released alongside their new show dates Tuesday alludes to their absence. A scratchy, rumbling voice narrates as the band drives through a desert; this male voice says the band “disappeared off the face of the earth,” but is now back: “Here my boys, back from the dead on their brand new tour, 2018 Beach Goth.”
