The Orwells Release Energetic New Song “Buddy” Off Forthcoming Album

Music News The Orwells

Today Chicago garage-rock band The Orwells shared “Buddy,” an infectious, driving song off their forthcoming album. This comes after bit of a hiatus for the band; Paste last spoke to them after the release of 2014’s Disgraceland, when they were already starting work on the next LP and had hopes that it would soon be finished. Guitarist Matt O’Keefe ambitiously told us, “If we write this album in a month or two, and then we record it in a month or two, it’s going to be a much more unified [album] than Disgraceland, which I will be very excited for.”

Things didn’t progress as quickly as that, but if the rest of the album is as exciting as “Buddy,” the wait will have been worth it. Clocking in at a mere 86 seconds, the song is an energetic burst of sound that teasingly leaves us wanting more. And we will get more soon: The Orwells will release the new LP in early 2017 and share details about it later this month.

If 86 seconds of new Orwells material isn’t enough for you, be sure to catch their upcoming tour, where they’ll be performing many new songs. Enjoy “Buddy” and check out their dates below—beneath that, find Paste Cloud audio from the band’s 2012 Daytrotter session.
