Tove Lo enlists a power cast of pop ladies for her newest music video. Charli XCX, Icona Pop, Elliphant and Finnish singer Alma are all featured in her raunchy and hilarious visuals for the “Bitches” remix. “Bitches” originally appeared on Lo’s 2017 BLUE LIPS (lady wood phase II).
In true Tove Lo style, the video is in-your-face sexual and playful with tongue-in-cheek humor and a focus on the woman of it all. The video was directed by Broad City producer Lucia Aniello, and stars Paul W. Downs (Broad City) and Jessy Hodges as a bored, sexually frustrated couple.
The video opens with Downs and Hodges entering an unsuspecting office building where Hodges has made an appointment with Lo and her girl-gang. After a quick rundown of the couple, Lo announces, “Alright, let’s get to work,” and the musicians promptly introduce them to the world of bondage and oral sex.
At the end of it all, love does not prevail, as Hodges says to Downs, “I think I’m gonna leave you and go back there.” The future really is female.
“This song was written with a lot of sass and cheekiness and it was important to me that the video showed that,” said Lo in a statement. We think you hit the mark on that one, Tove.
The Swedish singer is set to headline L.A. Pride on June 10 and N.Y. Pride on June 23. You can watch the video for “Bitches” and check out a Tove Lo performance from the Paste archives below.
