Dream-folk outfit Twain have shared “Young God (gotta lotta feeling),” the first single off their newly announced forthcoming double EP 2 E.P.s, out Jan. 25 through Keeled Scales.
“Young God” is a jaunty, golden-hued tune that feels tailor-made for some sort of wintertime homecoming montage, due in no small part to the plinking pianos that double singer-songwriter Mt. Davidson’s vocals, coloring everything with the icy twinge of melancholy that the season brings. “This song is about the freedom-feeling of allowing Love its natural Death,” Davidson said in a statement, and that mix between freedom and free-fall feels about right.
The double EP that includes “Young God” will collect two distinct moments in the artist’s recording history: Side A is New Miami Sound, which collects unreleased material from the Rare Feeling album sessions; Side B is Alternator, an intimate recording of Davidson performing a selection of his songs in a van. The album art features a painting made by Twain drummer Peter Pezzimenti. The art, along with a full tracklist, can be found further down.
