U2 seem to have made a winning move in announcing a reboot of their Joshua Tree tour. The tour, revisiting the band’s iconic 1987 album, already had incredible promise before the band announced an expansion of the summer stadium tour.
U2, boasting record ticket sales—1.1 million tickets in 24 hours!—in America and already sold-out summer shows in Europe, have added a few more shows to the tour. U2 will play in Los Angeles on May 21, in Chicago on June 4 and in East Rutherford, N.J. on June 29, plus new dates in London on July 9, Rome on July 16, and Paris on July 26. As previously announced, the band will also make their first U.S. festival headlining appearance at Bonnaroo in June.
“With U2, I’m a fan first and manager second,” Guy Oseary, the band’s manager, told Billboard. “I’m really happy that after all the sell-outs, we could add a few more shows so more fans can have the chance to experience this once-in-a lifetime tour. I wish we could go everywhere.”
U2’s tours, indeed, have a history of success. Their most recent tour, the 2009 “360” tour, had the highest tour tallies of any reported to Billboard.
