Vampire Weekend Announce Next Two Singles from Father of the Bride

Vampire Weekend have announced the second round of singles from their forthcoming album Father of the Bride. The two tracks are titled “Sunflower” and “Big Blue,” and they come out on Wednesday, March 6. The band announced the new material in an Instagram post with possible single artwork of a snake shedding its skin.

Vampire Weekend previously revealed they plan to release two new songs each month from the 18-track Father of the Bride until its release at an unspecified date later this year. The first two songs were “Harmony Hall” and “2021,” which arrived back in January. The band mention in Thursday’s Instagram announcement that they meant to put the new pair out in February but they were “convinced by intelligent people to wait a week to get some ducks in a row.”

The band also mentions that one of the new songs, “Sunflower,” is the “sibling song” of “Flower Moon,” the track teased at a show in Ojai, Calif., last year that features Steve Lacy. Bystanders who recently spotted Ezra Koenig and company filming a video with Jonah Hill and Lacy at iconic New York City deli Zabar’s said the video was meant to accompany “Sunflower.” Vampire Weekend also apparently previewed “Big Blue” at a Lollapalooza after-show in Chicago last summer.

The band describes the new pair of songs as entering “Phase 2” of their album release, and they teased more big things to come in their Instagram post. While we wait patiently for whatever’s in store from Vampire Weekend, check out the music video for “Harmony Hall” below, as well as a Daytrotter Session from the band from way back in 2007.
