Waxahatchee Announces New Album Tigers Blood

Waxahatchee, the solo project of Kansas City-based musician Katie Crutchfield, has announced her next album, Tigers Blood, which is set to arrive on March 22. The new LP marks Crutchfield’s debut release with ANTI- Records, and it’s the follow-up to her acclaimed 2020 release, Saint Cloud. Crutchfield returns with a project rooted in poignant introspection. Her steady hand guides listeners through ruminations of self-acceptance, addiction and love. Performances by MJ Lenderman, Spencer Tweedy and Phil and Brad Cook are showcased throughout the album.

Featuring Lenderman, the lead single “Right Back To It” is inspired by classic country duets of artists such as Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris. “I wrote it backstage at Wolf Trap when I was on tour opening for Jason Isbell and Sheryl Crow. I’m really interested in writing love songs that are gritty and unromantic. I wanted to make a song about the ebb and flow of a longtime love story,” says Crutchfield of the single. “I thought it might feel untraditional but a little more in alignment with my experience to write about feeling insecure or foiled in some way internally, but always finding your way back to a newness or an intimacy with the same person.”
