Exclusive: Young Mammals Share New Noise-Pop Single “Lost in Lima”

Houston noise-pop outfit Young Mammals have shared the title track for their new album, Lost in Lima, exclusively via Paste. Lost in Lima (out on June 22 via Wallflower Records) is the band’s fourth album and the follow-up to 2016’s Jaguar.

On “Lost in Lima,” euphonious chorus hooks tag-team with dissonance-glazed guitar and vocals. Lead vocalist Carlos Sanchez conjures garage-pop grandeur while the band’s naked indie-rock riffs are the perfect counterweight to the song’s foundational, dense guitar jangle. It’s the noise-pop embodiment of a beach—it contains both its lighthearted breeziness and intense beauty and vastness that sparks existential thoughts.

Per a press release, on their new album, Young Mammals “wanted to present its songs more directly, recording eleven new tracks on a Tascam 388 in a period of ten days.”
