Gisele Bundchen to Host Rio 2016 Opening Ceremony

Olympics News Rio 2016

Brazilian native Gisele Bundchen will return to her home country to host Rio 2016’s opening ceremony on Aug. 5.

Bundchen will reportedly enter Marcana Stadium through a “futuristic gateway” that will begin the ceremony and further represent the ceremony’s “future” theme, reports Extra.

The ceremony will also feature performances from veteran Brazilian musicians, including Samba singer Elza Soares and Brazilian popstar Anitta. Musicians and political activists Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil are also set to make appearances.

The country’s 12 leading school percussion bands will add further rhythm to the musically packed event.

Though a lavish ceremony and a new collection of posters might help highlight Brazil as a cultural and diverse corner of the world, its capital is currently going through its fair share of turmoil as the Olympic host city.
