Donald Trump Conducts Missile Response Test in Front of Entire Country Club, Then Complain-Tweets About Potential Leaks

Hey everyone, welcome to another fascinating 12 hours in the Trump administration! It started off at Mar-a-Lago resort (his “second” home, by which I mean his first home), where it was apparently a very interesting night to eat at the country club restaurant:

The fact that he conducted a freakin’ missile response test in view of a bunch of rich people who thought their day would not get more exciting than a birdie on the 14th hole and/or a relaxing massage at the day spa…well, that pissed a lot of people off, as the New York Times reported.

“There’s no excuse for letting an international crisis play out in front of a bunch of country club members like dinner theater,” Representative Nancy Pelosi of California, the Democratic leader in the House, wrote on Twitter.

Senators Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island and Tom Udall of New Mexico, Democrats who have called for Mr. Trump’s club to release a list of its members, denounced the president on Monday for discussing the North Korean missile launch in the open.

“This is America’s foreign policy, not this week’s episode of ‘Saturday Night Live,’” the senators said in a statement. “We urge our Republican colleagues to start taking this administration’s rash and unprofessional conduct seriously before there are consequences we all regret.”

Amazingly, even a couple prominent Republicans found the faintest trace of a backbone:

Republican senators also seemed puzzled by the president’s actions. Senator Marco Rubio, Republican of Florida, said, “Usually that’s not a place where you do that kind of thing.” Senator John McCain, Republican of Arizona, could barely find words. “Can’t make it up,” he said.

No, you really can’t. Was Trump concerned with his egregious diplomatic error, and did he vow to do better? Of course not:

The answer there is no, for the simple fact that Trump will apparently be cutting out the middle man and handling all the North Korea leaks himself.

And call me crazy, but I don’t think that’s the real story here. I think the real story is you parading the nuclear football around Florida, doing a missile test response at a restaurant, or—crazy thought—your national security adviser resigning in disgrace because he lied about his ties to Russia. The fact that news about your incompetent administration is getting out, though? Not the biggest problem.

Please, please, please make this nightmare end.
