Federal Judge Blocks Trump’s Travel Ban Hours Before It Would Have Kicked In

US District Court Judge Derrick Wilson issued a temporary restraining order to President Donald Trump’s travel ban today, just hours before it would have gone into effect.

Wilson, who made sure to reference Trump’s antagonistic relationship with professional athletes in his order, said the ban overreaches Trump’s constitutional authority. Trump’s ban would prevent travel from eight different countries, six of which are majority Muslim.

Politico reports the restraining order had been sought by “the state of Hawaii, a local Muslim cleric and others.” The ban had been set to kick in at midnight tonight.

This is good. We’re happy with this. Have a very NSFW tweet from comics artist Jon Rosenberg by way of celebration.
