Senior Jesus Ochoa from Vintage High School scored a remarkable 55-yard goal from a free kick in the second overtime against Merced. The goal put Vintage up 2-1 with less than one minute left to play to win the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Div. II boys soccer championship.
You read that correctly: 55 yards. To put that in perspective, a 55-yard field goal, where all you have to do is put a ball between two uprights with no goalkeeper, is an impressive feat. A 55-yard free-kick where you beat a goalkeeper is next level.
