Barcelona are top of La Liga after beating Rayo Vallecano 6-1. Leo Messi helped himself to another hat-trick (that’s what he does with his weekends now, score hat-tricks) but it was the previously goal-shy Luis Suarez who opened the scoring with the above beauty.
It was classic Suarez meets classic Barcelona, with Suarez doing his “straining at the leash and staying just onside” trick, and Xavi’s extraterrestrial ability to see and play through balls that no one else knew were an option.
Suarez scored twice in this game, giving him a total of seven La Liga goals this season. Barcelona are one point clear of second-place Real Madrid, who lost 1-0 to Athletic Club on Saturday. The top two meet for el Clasico on Sunday, March 22, so don’t make any other plans for that day.
