Airbnb Launches “Trips” for Fuller Travel Experiences

Travel News airbnb

As if we didn’t already love Airbnb, we love them even more now. The million-dollar industry just announced their newest development since it launched eight years ago: Trips. In this “people-powered platform,” travelers can go beyond the typical tourist attractions and truly experience a destination the way the locals do.

“Until now, Airbnb has been about homes,” said Brian Chesky, the Airbnb CEO at Airbnb Open in L.A. “Today, Airbnb is launching Trips, bringing together where you stay, what you do, and the people you meet all in one place. We want to make travel magical again by putting people back at the heart of every trip.”

There are three main components to Trips: Experiences, Places and Homes, and Flights and Services. Experiences connect travelers with local experts who will give you the inside scoop in whatever field your heart desires. For all you risk takers, have a morning surfing lesson then a beer at the Iconic Surf Bar with Quinn the Adventure Man in L.A. If you’re a little more laid back, join Valeria in Miami and share some delicious vegan meals and then go paddle boarding.

Along with having three million homes available across 191 countries, Places and Homes also now involves goodies like Insider Guidebooks and audio walking tours with Detour. Additionally, Airbnb is partnering with Resy of the best restaurant reservation sites out there—so you can book local restaurants through the Airbnb app or website.
