Now’s Your Last Chance To See Bjork’s Virtual Reality Exhibition in Montreal

You only have one week left to catch Björk’s bizarre, virtual reality art exhibition in Montreal.

The exhibit, which is about as “Björk” as you’d imagine, features an in your face— and quite literally in her face— experience that places viewers on a sordid, musical adventure, created for Björk’s 2015 album Vulnicura, consisting of everything from Icelandic beaches to between the artists teeth, gums and tongue.

Björk begins the installation with “Black Lake,” where she takes guests into a dark cave as she sings about the heartbreaking end of her 13-year relationship with artist Matthew Barney. Following “Black Lake,” guests journey into the video for “Stonemilker,” where you find the Icelandic singer surrounding you on a black, Icelandic beach, beckoning you to reach out and “synchronize our feelings, our feelings.” This is about as tame as the former Sugarcubes singer gets because the next installation begins with “Mouth Mantra,” a video shot entirely in the singe’s mouth— it’s here where you’ll understand why dentists have such a high suicide rate. The installation continues with her live Tokyo performance of the song “Quicksand,” which turns Björk into varying forms of “energy.”

If you can handle all of this, you’ll be lead into the world premiere of “Family,” a videogame-esque experience that lets you fly, and maneuver colorful ribbons, as you fly with a Egyptian- goddess-like Björk across the rocky Icelandic landscape.

The Montreal exhibition ends November 12, though another VR installation is appearing at the her installation at Iceland’s Airwaves festival where she just premiered her newest video, “Noget.”
