Images via ShowtimeKevin Bacon and the city of Boston will be back for more, as Showtime has renewed the crime drama City on a Hill for a second season, per THR.
The series, which stars Bacon, Aldis Hodge, Jonathan Tucker, Jill Hennessey and Amanda Clayton, and is set in 1990s Boston, revolves around an FBI veteran and District Attorney who band together to change the crime-riddled city.
“City on a Hill is that addictive kind of meaty and messy show we love at Showtime,” Gary Levin, Showtime’s entertainment president, said, per THR. “With the inspired pairing of Kevin Bacon and Aldis Hodge and the inspired writing of Tom Fontana and Chuck MacLean, we believe there is a rich future for this compelling series.”
The series, which irs its season one finale on Aug. 18, was created by MacLean, and lists Ben Affleck and Matt Damon among its executive producers. MacLean, Fontana, Michael Cuesta and Jennifer Todd act as executive producers, as well.
The announcement of the renewal from Showtime coincides with multiple other announcements from the streamer on Friday. Alongside City on a Hill, Showtime dished out a series commitment (or large sum of financial commitment) to Lisa Taddeo’s Three Women. Showtime also announced premiere dates for the final season of Homeland (Feb. 9), Shameless (Nov. 3), Ray Donovan (Nov. 17), Work in Progress (Dec. 8) and Kidding (Nov. 3).
