In a statement this morning, Amazon has announced that Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s comedy series Fleabag will return in 2019. The show, a joint production effort between Amazon Studios and BBC Three, first premiered in July, 2016, and received its Amazon debut in September of the same year.
The award-winning British comedy was developed from a one-woman show by Waller-Bridge, and retains its fluid, first-person narrative, Waller-Bridge’s character Fleabag frequently turning to the camera and breaking the fourth wall.
Waller-Bridge, who writes and stars, had this to say: “I asked myself if Fleabag has more to say and frankly she hasn’t shut up since,” she said. “Series two will be a whole new adventure and I’m beyond thrilled to be coming back.”
