Netflix and The CW Near $1 Billion Deal as The CW and Hulu’s Partnership Ends

TV News Netflix

Netflix and The CW will soon reach a deal that would put shows including The Flash, Arrow and newly acquired Supergirl up for streaming on Netflix as soon as two weeks after seasons air, Variety reports. This deal is priced at $1 billion, and is a testament to The CW’s television clout with their show lineup.

This deal also marks the end of The CW’s relationship with Hulu, whom they partnered with for streaming rights five years ago. Their deal allowed for five episodes at a time to be available for streaming. Hulu and The CW’s deal officially expires in October.

This deal will be one of the largest yet in the streaming business. Beginning at the end of this year, it will allow for The CW’s shows to appear on Netflix much faster than before. Prior to this deal, it would take months for The CW’s shows to appear on Netflix, usually just a few weeks prior to the start of the new season.
