Megan Park is returning to teen TV, this time behind the camera. The writer-director of My Old Ass has landed a series order for Sterling Point, a YA drama she will direct, executive produce, and co-showrun for Prime Video. She’s bringing in some heavyweights: Gossip Girl creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage will serve as co-showrunners and executive producers, under their Fake Empire banner. LuckyChap, which produced My Old Ass, is also on board.

Park, known for playing Grace Bowman on The Secret Life of the American Teenager, made her feature directorial debut in 2021 with The Fallout, starring Jenna Ortega and Maddie Ziegler, about a high school student navigating the aftermath of a school shooting. Her second film, the 2024 Sundance breakout My Old Ass, follows a teenager (Maisy Stella) who meets her 39-year-old self (Aubrey Plaza) during a mushroom trip. Now, Park has teamed up with Schwartz and Savage, whose decades-long influence on teen TV includes Gossip Girl, The O.C., Runaways, Hart of Dixie, The Carrie Diaries, Looking for Alaska, and the Dynasty reboot. The duo’s latest project, City on Fire, premiered on Apple TV+ in 2023.

Details for Sterling Point are under wraps, but with Park’s focus on the intricacies of growing up—and Schwartz and Savage’s track record—the series is primed for teen angst, complicated love lives and, of course, a killer soundtrack. With this trio in charge, Sterling Point could be the next defining teen drama.
