Look Forward to Meeting the “Shadow Monster” in Stranger Things 2

Netflix definitely struck gold when they teamed up with the Duffer Brothers, Matt and Ross, to bring Stranger Things to the screens of the service’s subscribers last year. And from what we’ve learned about the next installment to the ‘80s-inspired sci-fi hit, it surely will not disappoint.

Except, as the Duffers told Entertainment Weekly, they don’t consider it a new season, but rather, a sequel. Therefore, the newest installment will be dubbed Stranger Things 2, and that bit of information is just one of the details that the creators revealed. Along with the title, the opening sequence features an alarming change: It will not take place in Hawkins, Indiana, but instead in an “urban environment.”

While the first season revolved around saving Will and defeating the demogorgon, Stranger Things 2 will play out multiple plot lines, all culminating in something that concerns the “shadow monster,” a creature that Will encounters through his PTSD-like visions of the Upside Down.

“We have all these different threads and you don’t see how possibly all these things could come together and then slowly but surely they all play an integral role in the story this season,” Ross said.

As we already knew, almost every main cast member from season one will return, namely Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) Will (Noah Schnapps), Joyce (Winona Ryder) and Jim (David Harbour). The original cast will also be joined by new characters, including a love interest for Joyce, Bob, played by Sean Astin (Lord of the Rings).

We’re exactly a month away from the premiere of Stranger Things 2 (Oct. 27), and we totally understand if it feels like that’s forever from now. Luckily, we’re able to re-watch the first season to make sure we’re completely caught up to speed on all the details. Thankfully, Netflix has us covered on Nancy’s love life before we’re introduced to Joyce’s new man in the new installment—take a peek at the video below.
