The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Premieres in November on Amazon

Amazon today announced the premiere date for their new show The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel: Nov. 29. The show comes from Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino, and her frequent collaborator and husband Daniel Palladino (Family Guy).

The show takes place in 1958 and stars actress Rachel Brosnahan (House of Cards) as Miriam “Midge” Maisel, a married woman with a seemingly perfect life, until it unexpectedly spirals downward. What results is a drunken and vulgar stand-up comedy act, which leads Midge to explore this hidden talent of hers.

Joe Lewis, Head of Comedy, Drama & VR, Amazon Studios, said the following in a statement:

“Amy and Dan have made the rare, special series that’s as funny as it is beautiful. From the direction to the writing to Rachel’s incredible performance, every element is beyond what anyone could hope for. We can’t wait for customers to see it soon.”

Amazon Prime customers can actually see the pilot episode right now, with the studio touting 93 percent of the episode’s reviews being five stars. The series also stars Tony Shalhoub as Midge’s father, Alex Borstein (Family Guy) as Susie Myerson, Michael Zegen (Boardwalk Empire) as Midge’s husband and Marin Hinkle (Two and a Half Men) as Midge’s mother. Check out the trailer, featuring a pretty neat old-timey cover of Flo Rida’s “Good Feeling,” below.
