Netflix Unveils Trailer, Premiere Date for Marvel’s The Punisher Season Two

Netflix has unveiled the trailer and premiere date for season two of Marvel’s The Punisher, out later this month.

The gritty new trailer finds the titular vigilante killer, played by Jon Bernthal, back on his descent into madness.

The streamer has also shared the following synopsis for the forthcoming season:

Former marine-turned-vigilante Frank Castle (Bernthal) has been living a quiet life on the road until he suddenly becomes embroiled in the attempted murder of a young girl (Giorgia Whigham). As he is drawn into the mystery surrounding her and those in pursuit of the information she holds, Castle attracts a new target on his back as new and old enemies force him to confront whether he should accept his destiny and embrace a life as The Punisher.

Netflix renewed The Punisher for a second season in December 2017, although the series returns as one of the last Marvel TV offerings standing on the streamer, which recently canceled fellow The Defenders shows Iron Fist, Luke Cage and Daredevil. Netflix isn’t billing The Punisher’s second season as its final bow, although we can expect as much, given all these recent Marvel cancellations. Marvel’s Jessica Jones has been renewed for a third season, and is also set to launch on Netflix later in 2019.

Marvel’s The Punisher returns for a second season on Netflix Jan. 18.
